POTPOURRI
Potpourri is a NEW design, never before taught in real time or as a cyber class or correspondence course. It may be designed by the student or stitched similar to one of the models.

A Basic Design Theory section gives the student the principles and elements of design theory. Five shapes are then given for the student to utilize in designing her own piece. This is transferred to the Congress cloth for stitching.

A Basic Color Theory section gives the rules of color theory. The student then selects her color palette for the design, or uses the same colors as were used for the model.

A Baker's dozen different Florentine patterns are included in the course. Using the knowledge gained from the design and color sections, the student selects her desired patterns and colors. The patterns given may be modified, manipulated or used as diagrammed for the design stitched and submitted.

For the more inexperienced student the design may also be stitched like the model using those same colors, or not, and the same Florentine patterns as shown.

Two models have been stitched for this cyber class to illustrate what might be done with the knowledge gained.

This cyber class will run 6 weeks beginning November 1, 2007.
