Celic Carnation

This small design offers the student a taste of embellished blackwork. Modeled after a 17th century floral design, this petite embroidery is stitched on 24 count white soft Congress cloth with stranded silk and metallic braid. Many embroideries of this era were first stitched in Spanish stitch, or double running, and then embroidered over the stitching. To maximize in-class embellishing time, some basic pre-stitching will be required. Upon completion, an edging will be stitched around the design and its backing fabric to allow joining and the creation of a small pillow.
